The moss was completely removed from the roof whilst protecting the surrounding garden area with a sheet covering. Five of the damaged tiles were replaced. A protective biochemical coating was then applied to inhibit further moss growth and finally a Stoker Grey, Kolourseal polymer roof coating applied (which has a ten year guarantee), leaving the roof protected from the elements and looking pristine.
The Job
Initial inspection of the roof revealed that there was extensive moss growth over and under the tiles. This had caused damage to several of the tiles leading to water ingress into the loft area. The moss overgrowth had also lifted some of the tiles compromising the integrity of the roof and again leading to water ingress into the property.
The roof was thoroughly cleaned and all moss completely removed. All gutters, facia and soffits were also cleaned. In all eighteen damaged tiles were replaced. Once the roof clean was complete and the tiles replaced, we applied a biochemical solution which will inhibit future growth of algae, moss and lichen. We then applied our Stoker Grey, Kolourseal roof coating to leave the roof watertight, looking great and the coating has a ten year guarantee.
