The roof was cleaned to remove the dirt, moss and algae, taking care to protect the surrounding area with covers, the broken tiles were replaced and a biochemical sealant applied. Finally, an acrylic polymer coating (which has a ten year guarantee) was applied leaving the property watertight and looking great. The customer was thrilled with the overall cost saving.
The Job
A 1940’s ex council house property which was weathered and tired looking. The primary inspection revealed that the roof was generally sound with only two broken tiles. Some render had crumbled from the walls and the roof and window sills had moss overgrowth. The owner opted for a roof and wall coating and also uPVC window spray paint.
We cleaned the roof to remove the moss and algae which had accumulated over time. We repointed the ridge tiles as the original render was crumbling and replaced the broken tiles. We thoroughly cleaned the walls, gutters facia and soffits. We also repaired the broken render on the walls. We then removed the old degraded silicone from the windows and prepared the sills for painting. We then applied a biochemical formula that inhibits moss and lichen growth to the roof, walls and window sills and coated the roof with a protective Kolourseal coating in Spanish terracotta colour.
The walls and the chimney were spray coated in a Brilliant white colour which made a huge difference to the property’s appearance and the window sills were coated in a Coniston slate grey colour. The windows, gutters and downpipes were then spray painted with a specialist uPVC paint (the windows in Anthracite grey and the gutters in Black) and new Anthracite grey silicone was applied to the windows. All the coatings were guaranteed for ten years. The difference in the property after the work was quite striking. The customer left a review which praised the value for money of our work and our attention to detail.

The Coating
We asked our Registered Contractor Jordan Doe to contact Mr & Mrs Adams in West Sussex to arrange to survey their roof and provide a quote for it to be cleaned and a biocide treatment to prevent regrowth. As you can see it is a lovely house but it was being let down by the roof being dirty, apart form the dirt moss and algae are not good for roofs.
